The founder of Methodism, John Wesley best said it, “In the hands of (God’s) children, it is food for the hungry, drink for the thirsty, raiment for the naked. It gives to the traveler and the stranger where to lay his head. By it we may supply the place of a husband to the widow, and of a father to the fatherless. We may be a defense for the oppressed, a means of health to the sick, of ease to them that are in pain. It may be as eyes to the blind, as feet to the lame: yea, a lifter up from the gates of death!” Voltaire said, “Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do.”
As Christians and United Methodists, doing good and giving is at the core of our existence. Since the Ebla outbreak in Sierra Leone, the Church have been actively involved in several ways in the fight to eradicate the disease. In that light, the medical services last week embarked on a trip across the country to donate medical supplies; gloves, isolation gowns, surgical gowns, surgical face masks, Clorox, needle and syringe, surgical medical supplies, goggles (n95 and n35), which were received from partners, MediSend, to government Hospitals.
UMC Donates to Princess Christian Maternity Hospital

Starting in Freetown, the team lead by the District Superintendent, Rev. Alfred Karimu, donated to the Connaught Hospital and Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH). The team then headed to the provinces, starting at the East of the Country, Kono, where with the District Superintendent, donated supplies to the Kono government Hospital and trained staff on Ebola and Personal Protective Equipment use.
Travelling to Kenema, Bo, Makeni and then Moyamba the team donated to the Kenema Government Hospital, Bo Government Hospital, Makeni Regional Hospital, Moyamba Government Hospital, respectively.
In Bo, the team also educated and trained the staff on Ebola and the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
While in Moyamba, the team with the Bishop, donated to the Mustard Seed Foundation, A home for the homeless children in Moyamba.
