Bishop James Boye-Caulker, together with visiting Bishop Tom Berlin of the Florida Conference, toured several United Methodist Church facilities in Freetown. Their visit includes the Theological Campus at Leicester Peak, Imatt, the Bishop’s residence on King Street, the School of Transformative Education, Business Entrepreneurial Studies on King Harman Road, and the Urban Hospital at Kissy.

At the United Methodist University, the Principal, Professor Ekundayo Thompson, welcomed the Bishops and their delegation, expressed gratitude for their visit, and revealed that the University has introduced two new programs: Early Childhood Learning and Digital Literacy.

Professor Thompson further outlined key challenges facing the institution and appealed for the Bishops’ support.

Bishop Tom Berlin, on his part, commended the church for its service through the university and hospital in Sierra Leone—reflecting on the late Bishop John K. Yambasu’s vision for both institutions. He emphasised their collaborative efforts to fulfil that mission.

Bishop Berlin praised the staff for their dedication to the Sierra Leonean community and urged them to persevere in their impactful work.

In his address, Bishop James Boye-Caulker thanked the staff for their unwavering service to the church and the nation.

The Bishop further encouraged them to maintain high standards in delivering quality services and assured them of his commitment to supporting the institutions through the church and its partners.

While stressing the university’s importance, he pledged to prioritise its sustainability and address its challenges.
