Sunday, 28th September 2025 Bishop James Boye-Caulker delivered a sermon at the Judicial Service, Saint George’s Cathedral, George Street, Freetown, on the theme ” Walking in the fear of the Lord “
In his address, he outlined several achievements of the Judicial of Sierra Leone in 2024, including the establishment of an ultra-modern judicial facility, a Magistrate Court at Mile 91, improvements within the prison body across various parts of the country, and the release of over 400 individuals, giving them opportunities to re-enter society. The enforcement of bail regulations, the nation’s international image has reportedly improved, leading to various international recognitions and appointments of judges in areas of equal rights and the Commonwealth. Significant steps taken to prevent human trafficking and strengthen adoption matters, judges afforded with opportunities to attend international conferences and meetings to broadcast their intellect and implement best practices.
He continued with a spiritual call, emphasizing the duty of working in the fear of the Lord. Drawing from Micah 6:8, Bishop James Boye-Caulker urged Judges and lawyers to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Additionally, a reference to Ephesians 6:10-17, urging judges and lawyers to be strong in the Lord, put on the whole armor of God to stand against evil, recognizing that their struggle is against spiritual challenges.
The Bishop concluded by urging judges and lawyers to be guided by the truth and always be strong in the Lord to stand against evil principalities.
