FREETOWN, Sierra Leone — The Yambasu Agricultural Initiative (YAI) has launched a new showcase of fresh, locally grown vegetable products for sale, marking a key milestone in its mission to enhance sustainable farming across the region.
Operating under the Sierra Leone Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (UMC), the YAI project directly aligns with the Government of Sierra Leone’s national “Feed Salone” initiative. By increasing local crop yields and expanding access to fresh produce, the project aims to bolster regional food security, reduce import reliance, and provide crucial economic support to local agricultural workers.
The initiative is supervised by the United Methodist Development Office and receives core sponsorship from the UMC General Board of Global Ministries alongside German UMC partners. Through this international partnership, the project continues to focus on long-term community health and rural development through sustainable farming practices.
